Stop Musk from illegally accessing Americans' private data
To: Rep. Kerwin, Sen. King
From: A constituent in Burleson, TX
February 14
It is appalling that Elon Musk and his "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE) are attempting to illegally gain access to the private data of millions of Americans housed at various federal agencies. This blatant violation of privacy rights cannot be tolerated. The fact that DOGE seeks to seize sensitive information systems containing personal details like Social Security numbers, medical records, and financial data before courts can intervene is a direct threat to the public. Allowing an unelected billionaire to dismantle government agencies and misuse confidential citizen information for unknown motives sets a dangerous precedent. This overreach is not only unlawful but also jeopardizes the health, safety, and economic security of working families across the nation. Corporations and wealthy individuals must not be given unchecked power to access and potentially exploit the private lives of ordinary Americans. Stringent protections for personal data privacy are vital for maintaining public trust in institutions. I urge you to take immediate action to block Musk's DOGE from illegally accessing the Department of Labor, Department of Health and Human Services, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and any other agency housing sensitive citizen data. Comprehensive legislative and legal measures are needed to rein in this egregious abuse of power and violation of the public's constitutional rights to privacy. The civil liberties and personal information of your constituents are at stake. We expect our elected representatives to fiercely defend our privacy against exploitation by self-serving private interests.
