Reject Harmful Bill Prioritizing Wealthy Over Vulnerable Americans

The House Republican's "big, beautiful bill" is a deeply flawed and harmful piece of legislation that must be rejected. It makes draconian cuts to vital social safety net programs like Medicaid and SNAP that millions of vulnerable Americans rely on for basic healthcare and nutrition. The new work requirements and re-enrollment bureaucracy for Medicaid are punitive and will cause many to lose coverage. Similarly, the SNAP changes shift more costs to states and add unnecessary work rules that will increase food insecurity. At the same time, the bill provides lavish tax cuts that disproportionately benefit the wealthy and corporations, increasing inequality. Raising the SALT deduction cap to $40,000 is a giveaway to the rich in high-tax states. And making the expanded $2,500 child tax credit contingent on having a social security number discriminates against immigrant families. While ending taxes on tips, overtime pay and car loan interest are promoted as helping workers, the negative impacts on critical programs like Medicaid and SNAP far outweigh these minor concessions. Furthermore, increasing the debt ceiling by $4 trillion with no plan to pay for it is the height of fiscal irresponsibility. This legislation prioritizes the interests of the wealthy and corporations over the needs of ordinary Americans. It will increase poverty, erode healthcare access, exacerbate hunger, deepen inequality and explode the deficit. I urge you to reject this misguided and destructive bill that so badly fails the test of promoting the general welfare. The American people deserve and demand better.
