An Open Letter

To: Rep. Kennedy, Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis

From: A constituent in Holladay, UT

August 29

Trump is selling part of Yosemite National Park to a developer and Congress must intervene. This is quid pro quo corruption at the highest level, and it sets a terrible precedent. The proposal calls for transferring a small parcel just inside the western boundary of Yosemite to a company controlled by Kingsbarn Realty Capital, a real estate private equity firm. Kingsbarn wants to build a road and develop two 40-acre parcels it owns near the park. In exchange, the company would purchase land of equivalent value, either near Yosemite or elsewhere in California, and hand it over to the park service, and any excess cost associated with the transfer would be paid out of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which is not what that fund is meant to do. Trump is corrupt and the continued compliance and abetting by Congress is baffling. No one can stop his destruction of our nation and our global reputation except Congress, and the time has come for you to stop his petty tyranny. Stand up to Trump, stop the sale of one of our nation's most beautiful parks, and rebalance the power in our government.
