The Department of Education and rural schools

To: Rep. McClintock, Sen. Padilla, Sen. Butler

From: A constituent in San Andreas, CA

November 18

I'm a constituent and special education professional deeply concerned about potential cuts to the Department of Education. Here's why this is critical: Federal funding ensures compliance with special education laws (IDEA, Section 504). The Department of Education provides resources and guidance for: * Teacher training * Research-based interventions * Equitable access to education The Department of Education supports rural school districts through: * Title I funding for low-income students * Grants like SRSA and RLIS * Technical assistance and resources * Expanding broadband access Eliminating or reducing funding would severely impact students with disabilities, families, rural schools, and the public education system. I urge you to strongly oppose any measures that would weaken or eliminate the Department of Education.
