I am writing to you as a concerned citizen who is deeply alarmed by the unchecked acceleration of artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on our society, economy, and democracy. While AI has the potential to bring great benefits, it is increasingly being deployed by private corporations to replace human labor, concentrate wealth, erode privacy, and destabilize public trust. These shifts are happening at a pace that far outstrips our current laws and protections. I urge you to take immediate action on the following priorities:
1. Establish transparent AI accountability standards
Require companies to disclose how AI systems are trained, what data is used, and how decisions are made not laid off or monitored by AI without human oversight and due process. 2. Protect workers and prevent mass displacement
Introduce or support legislation that ensures workers are Explore retraining programs, job transition stipends, or incentives for AI that augments rather than replaces labor. 3. Regulate data use and prevent unauthorized scraping
Companies are building billion-dollar AI systems off the backs of stolen creative work and personal Data. Creators and everyday citizens deserve legal protection, compensation, and consent over how their data is used. 4. Ensure public access to AI benefits
Invest in publicly owned, . open-source AI infrastructure that serves education, healthcare, and local communities, not just corporations and defense contractors AI should serve the public good, not undermine it. If we fail to act now, the costs, economically, socially, and democratically, will be irreversible. I urge you to be a voice for the people, not just for Silicon Valley. This is a defining issue of our generation
