Block the Russian Diesel License — Don't Fund Putin's War Machine

To: Sen. Cramer, Sen. Hoeven, Rep. Fedorchak

From: A constituent in Horace, ND

October 12

Congress explicitly banned Russian energy imports in 2022 to prevent American dollars from financing Putin's war against Ukraine. Trump's Treasury Department just issued a license to import over 300,000 tons of Russian diesel — with 1.5 million more tons to follow — in direct violation of that law. You need to act immediately to block this temporary license. This isn't a gray area. Six of your bipartisan colleagues, including Sens. Shaheen, Collins, and Murkowski, have already stated the administration "failed to consult with Congress or submit any explanation to justify its decision as required by statute." Trump created this fuel crisis by attacking Iran, and now he's handing Putin a financial lifeline to clean it up. Ukraine has held the line against Russian aggression for years. Letting Russian diesel flow into American markets rewards that aggression and undermines everything we've invested in this fight. Don't let that stand.
