The "Big, Beautiful Bill" proposed by President Trump poses a grave threat to the well-being of millions of Americans. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates it would strip 11.8 million people of health insurance coverage and balloon the deficit by a staggering $3.3 trillion over the next decade. Rather than promoting economic growth as claimed, this legislation will inflict immense harm on working families by gutting essential social safety net programs like Medicaid and food stamps through draconian work requirements and eligibility restrictions. Furthermore, the bill's massive tax cuts overwhelmingly favor the wealthy and corporations while undermining investments in clean energy, leading to higher utility costs and job losses in a vital growth sector. Equally concerning are the proposed $45 billion in funding for new immigration detention facilities and a sharp increase in arrests and deportations that will tear families apart. This misguided legislation represents an assault on American values of compassion, opportunity and responsible governance. I urge you to reject this destructive bill that sacrifices the well-being of your constituents in service of an extreme ideological agenda. The American people deserve better.
