I write to demand immediate, transparent action regarding the disturbing allegations that Tom Homan, now officially designated “Border Czar,” accepted a $50,000 bribe in an undercover FBI operation. Reports indicate that in September 2024 he was recorded taking cash from agents posing as prospective contractors, in exchange for promises to help them win immigration‐related government contracts—contingent on a Trump victory and his role in the new administration.
Even more alarming is that this investigation was later shut down after Trump’s return to office—officials claiming the evidence was not “credible,” despite hidden camera recordings and at least preliminary agreement to perform official favors.
These allegations strike at the core of public trust in our government. If a high‐level adviser is perceived to be buying influence or trading access, it corrodes the rule of law, undermines fair competition, and lets corruption flourish. The Justice Department is not a political tool. It must serve the people, with impartiality and rigor.
Therefore, I urge you, as my elected representative, to do the following:
1. Initiate or support a congressional investigation into how and why this probe was closed, and who ordered or approved that closure.
2. Demand the release of all relevant evidence—including recordings, internal DOJ memos, and communications by senior officials in this case—to the extent possible under law.
3. Ensure accountability if wrongdoing is found, no matter the political affiliation of those involved. Legal norms, ethical standards, and public trust depend on it.
4. Consider reforms to strengthen oversight of corruption allegations, especially for appointees and officials who are not yet formally in office when alleged bribe offers occur, to prevent loopholes that allow misconduct to escape prosecution.
We deserve to know whether the law is applied equally, or if those in power can buy influence with impunity. Silence or inaction here is not acceptable.
Thank you for your service. I expect your swift response and action.
