Say no to the ban, support smart hemp regulations

To: Lt. Gov. Patrick, Sen. Eckhardt, Rep. Hinojosa, Gov. Abbott

From: A constituent in Austin, TX

July 22

The Texas hemp industry supports over 53,000 jobs and 8,000 small businesses, generates $267 million in tax revenue and $2.1 billion in annual wages for Texans. Banning legal, federally-compliant hemp products would wipe out this economic engine, criminalize responsible adult and medical consumers, and fuel an illegal, unregulated black market at the expense of consumer choice and access to natural alternatives. A hemp ban ignores the will of Texans who want freedom to choose hemp-derived products. Rather than resorting to prohibition, smart regulation is needed to protect jobs, small businesses, tax revenues, and consumer access to safe, legal hemp goods. Opposing another misguided ban is crucial to preserving the rights and livelihoods of thousands of Texans.
