I am happy to hear the House of Representatives passed the Sunshine Protection Act but I also understand why the this will likely die in the Senate. Washington pass legislation permanently switching to Daylight Savings Time several years ago, but is not allowed to make the switch without congressional approval. I am so tired of changing the clocks twice a year that I don't really care if it is Daylight Savings Time or Standard Time, just stop changing the clocks! I think the Sunshine Protection Act should be modified so that Congress authorizes states that can and want to switch to Daylight Savings Time permanently can switch and those states that don't want to switch can stay on Standard Time permanently or chose to continue to switch their clocks twice a year. This does not seem to me to need to be an all-or-nothing situation. We already have Hawaii and Arizona not switching their clocks twice a year and the world has not come to an end. This should be left up to the states on how they want to manage setting their clocks.
