No to the Arch on Columbia Island

To: Sen. Hickenlooper, Rep. Crow, Sen. Bennet

From: A constituent in Littleton, CO

April 29

I’m concerned that the proposed victory arch in honor of the 250th birthday of our nation will interfere with traffic safety for Reagan National airport. Columbia Island is in the Potomac River close to the airport near where airplanes often operate. There are building restrictions along the Potomac because of the airport. One of the major accidents involved a plane clipping the 14th Street bridge. The area does not need more structures for planes to avoid. Especially, structures that are 250 feet tall. Also, as a foot note there is a chance the chosen site might not be suitable for a tall heavy arch.
