I write to you not in opposition, but in deep concern—for our country, for our leadership, and for the dignity of aging Americans. As a constituent who values both patriotism and personal integrity, I urge you to support Governor JB Pritzker’s call for invoking the 25th Amendment and initiating a formal cognitive evaluation of President Donald J. Trump. This is not a partisan plea. It is a moral one. Over the past year, numerous public appearances have raised serious questions about the President’s cognitive health. These are not isolated moments of fatigue or verbal slips—they are consistent patterns that merit medical attention and public transparency: • In a March 2025 rally, President Trump repeatedly confused Barack Obama with Joe Biden, stating “Obama is running the country” and “he’s the one behind the scenes,” despite being corrected mid-speech. • During a televised interview in June, he struggled to complete sentences, often looping back to the same phrase (“a lot of people are saying”) without delivering a coherent point. • At a July press conference, he misidentified the year as 2014 and referred to his son Barron as “Don Jr.” before being quietly corrected by aides. • His gait and posture have visibly changed, with footage showing him dragging his right leg and leaning heavily on podiums—symptoms consistent with neurological decline. • Most recently, after the July 13 assassination attempt, the administration delayed releasing medical details for over 72 hours, despite visible bruising and confusion during his next appearance. These signs, taken together, suggest more than aging—they suggest possible cognitive impairment. And yet, the administration continues to rely on superficial tests like the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), which experts agree is insufficient for diagnosing dementia or related conditions. I am not asking for political theater. I am asking for compassionate oversight. President Trump is 79 years old. If any elder in our community exhibited these symptoms, we would insist on proper medical care—not place them under the stress of global leadership. To ignore these signs is not loyalty—it is neglect. And to shield him from evaluation is not strength—it is a form of elder abuse. I understand that many in our district support President Trump. I ask you to consider this not as a challenge to your loyalty, but as a defense of his dignity. If he is well, a full neuropsychological evaluation will confirm it. If he is not, we owe him—and our nation—the truth. Please support Governor Pritzker’s call for invoking the 25th Amendment and demand a full, independent cognitive assessment of the President. Our democracy depends not just on elections, but on accountability, compassion, and the courage to act when it is hardest.
