Support Hemp Industry Freedom and Vote Against Restrictions
To: Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla
From: A verified voter in San Francisco, CA
November 11, 2025
As the Senate recently passed a deal to end the 41-day government shutdown, I am deeply concerned about the rejection of Senator Rand Paul's amendment to remove hemp industry restrictions. This decision, made by a 76-24 vote, threatens the livelihoods of farmers and small business owners in the hemp industry, as well as limits consumer choice and economic growth.
The hemp industry has shown tremendous potential for job creation and economic development since its legalization in the 2018 Farm Bill. Imposing unnecessary restrictions on this burgeoning sector could stifle innovation and prevent us from fully realizing the benefits of this versatile crop. Hemp products, ranging from textiles to health supplements, offer sustainable alternatives to many traditional materials and have gained significant consumer interest.
I urge you to reconsider the position on hemp industry restrictions and advocate for their removal as the House prepares to vote on the government funding package. The compromise reached in the Senate deal, while addressing many critical issues such as food aid and veterans programs, should not come at the expense of a promising agricultural sector.
As your constituent, I ask that you vote against any measures that would impose undue restrictions on the hemp industry. Instead, please support policies that encourage its growth and development. This approach would not only benefit farmers and entrepreneurs in our district but also contribute to economic diversification and environmental sustainability.
The upcoming House vote presents a crucial opportunity to stand up for hemp industry freedom. I implore you to make your voice heard on this issue and work towards removing these harmful restrictions. Your support for the hemp industry would demonstrate a commitment to agricultural innovation, economic growth, and the interests of your constituents.
