Today, early estimates indicate that over 5 million Americans took to the streets across the nation to protest in defense of democracy and against the authoritarian policies of the Trump regime. Here in Washington State, a conservative estimate counted over 7,000 protestors in Vancouver, and tens of thousands more in Olympia, Seattle, and other cities across the state. The message was loud and clear: the people will not be silent in the face of injustice.
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the so-called SAVE Act, and to urge you not to support this dangerous piece of legislation.
This bill threatens to disenfranchise countless Americans, including married women, naturalized citizens, and others who have every right to vote. The people of this state and this country do not want you voting for legislation that undermines the very foundation of our democracy.
We are watching as unconstitutional policies and blatant power grabs continue to emerge from Trump and his allies, threatening the rule of law, civil rights, and the very spirit of our republic. These actions must be stopped, those responsible must be held accountable, and the government must return to the values that once made this nation proud — inclusion, diversity, and liberty for all.
We are a nation built as a melting pot, and any attempt to dismantle that legacy is an attack not only on immigrants and minorities but on the soul of the United States itself.
Do the right thing. Stand with the people. Reject the SAVE Act. Reject the destruction of the country! Reject further Trump, Vance, and Musk unconstitutional and damaging actions. Stand up for the people and the constitution
