I am writing to you on a rainy Saturday morning in Rogers with a heavy heart. A tiny bit about me, I'm a mom to a Sophomore Razorback (Electrical Engineer & Music major). My oldest son started at Rogers Police Department in December of last year. Together with his wife, we have a grandbaby, Ezra, 20 months, and his little sister is coming early 2026. So what topics are weighing heavy? Everything. Every. Single. Thing. Childhood vaccines, maternal mortality (my daughter in law is of Native American heritage). Availability of government assistance that they qualify for because a police officer is not paid enough to feed a family of 4. Affordable housing. Higher Education under attack. LGBTQ+ Rights under attack (my youngest). So what is the point of this letter? Since you are on an extended vacation, I feel it is important for you to hear from us! I sincerely hope you were able to make it to the display of the Constitution before the government shutdown shuttered it. How amazing to see the actual documents that helped form this great nation of ours. Were you able to let the words wash over you, all the powers that were bestowed upon Congress? What are you and your colleagues allowing? It's horrifying. If I say "his brain is pudding", you know exactly who I am talking about. "No Kings" indeed. We should all be anti-fascists. All of us. Again, I am just a mom & a grandmama who loves my family dearly. Who wonders will my inlaws and mom be taken care of, what about Social Security, what about their healthcare? What about the rising costs of groceries? How ICE is terrorizing communities (yes, it's even happening here in NWA). National Guard being deployed for absolutely no good reason (y'all know it). 40 billion dollars to bail out Argentina. Sir, respectfully. I haven't even hit on OMB and that horrible man Russell Vought. And what about the Republicans, who control all three branches of Government? What are y'all doing. Stop parroting those insane talking points from party "leadership". It's so transparent & frankly, embarrassing. Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves. Truly. So maybe use this time off to do some soul-searching. Get out there and "touch grass", as they say. Enjoy the fall foliage. Get together with a group of colleagues and figure out how to DO SOMETHING. Swear in Adelita Grijalva and let the Epstein files be released & maybe your problem will be taken care of for you.
