I stand in opposition to the illegal attack and occupation of Venezuela.
And I’m calling on you as my elected official to condemn this unprecedented aggression and violation of the United States Constitution.
Trump has sent our children into harm's way to benefit himself and the donors that gave millions to his campaign. This attack is not about protecting democracy or our economy, this attack is to seize control of the mineral and energy wealth of Venezuela and hand it over to Big Oil.
Trump is beholden to oil corporations like Chevron, Exxon and billionaire oil tycoons. These are the same corporations that extract our natural resources and exploit workers all over the country, exposing them and their communities to dangerous and sometimes lethal conditions.
This is not about us — the people — and making our lives better: it is about billionaires making themselves richer no matter the human cost.
Don’t stand on the sidelines and lick his boots while Trump occupies nations and wages wars on behalf of the billionaire class while at home we can’t even afford our groceries.
Every dollar spent in another war is a dollar we paid for with our taxes — a dollar that could and should go to helping our communities thrive. We can have good jobs, better schools, access to healthcare, and get our basic needs met; but not while our government works for billionaires and not for us.
I'm calling on you to stand strong in this moment and speak up. We must fight back together.
