Protect Transgender Rights and Oppose Anti-Trans Legislation

To: Rep. Andrews, Sen. Nesbitt, Gov. Whitmer

From: A verified voter in Stevensville, MI

April 1

On this Trans Day of Visibility, I'm asking you to publicly oppose anti-trans legislation and support protections for transgender people in employment, healthcare, and education. The data is clear: 85% of Americans believe transgender people deserve the same rights and protections as everyone else, including 76% of Republicans. Right now, 747 anti-trans bills are moving through 42 state legislatures, with 677 still under consideration. These bills don't reflect our values. A recent SSRS survey shows 89% of Americans support trans people accessing needed healthcare, 79% back employment protections, and 83% want protections from discrimination in schools. Even among Republicans, majorities support workplace and education protections. I know a trans person. So do four in 10 Americans now, up from one in three just a few years ago. Trans people are our neighbors, coworkers, and family members. They deserve the same dignity and equal treatment under the law that we all expect. Stand with the overwhelming majority of your constituents and defend trans rights.
