As a constituent residing in Columbus, OH, I am writing to express my deep concern regarding reports of increased, aggressive immigration enforcement actions by ICE that appear to be operating without sufficient oversight. It has been reported that ICE detention facilities are facing a rise in deadly incidents and unsafe conditions, with little transparency regarding the treatment of detainees. I am particularly concerned by reports that 92% of those detained in early FY2026 had no criminal convictions, suggesting a shift toward indiscriminate, rather than targeted, enforcement. Our cities are being terrorized and our neighbors are being killed and kidnapped as is evidenced by videos coming out of Minneapolis. These agents need to held accountable and prosecuted. I urge you to use your authority to call for: • Immediate, independent investigations into detention conditions and use-of-force incidents. • Public, emergency oversight hearings to hold the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) accountable. • The rejection of any increase in funding for ICE until meaningful reforms and oversight mechanisms are in place. Our community deserves to know that federal law enforcement is acting in accordance with constitutional principles, transparency, and human dignity.
