Oppose cuts detrimental to Iowans and agriculture

To: Rep. Nunn, Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst

March 15

Congressional Representatives, staff cuts to federal agencies overseeing dams across the country could put public safety at risk. As an agricultural state, Iowa relies heavily on well-maintained dams and related infrastructure for irrigation, flood control, and other vital purposes. Staffing reductions would diminish the ability to properly inspect and maintain these critical structures, potentially leading to devastating failures. I urge you to reconsider proposed staffing cuts and instead ensure these agencies have sufficient resources to fulfill their crucial responsibilities of protecting lives and livelihoods in our state through proactive dam management and oversight. Public safety must be the top priority.
