Representative Thomas Massie has filed a privileged resolution to impeach Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Because it was filed as privileged, the House has to act on it within two legislative days, and every member's vote will be on the record, whether that's a vote on the resolution itself, a vote to refer it to committee, or a vote to table it.
I'm writing to ask directly: how do you plan to vote?
Secretary Hegseth has been reported to have shared classified strike plans over an unofficial messaging app, been the subject of a Pentagon Inspector General finding that he violated policy and failed to preserve required records, presided over strikes on survivors of a boat attack, and fired the military's top lawyers and multiple senior officers who pushed back on him.
I expect a direct answer, not a form response. I will be watching how you vote, and I will remember it in November.
