Demand ICE Oversight, Defunding, and Impeachment of Secretary Noem

March 7

I am writing to urge immediate action on the escalating human rights crisis within our immigration enforcement system. ICE detention facilities have documented 510 identifiable human rights violations, including sexual assault, medical negligence, and mistreatment of children and pregnant people. These are not isolated incidents but systemic failures that demand congressional intervention. I am asking you to conduct public oversight investigations into the unsanitary conditions of detention facilities to ensure the rights and safety of detainees. Hundreds of U.S. citizens have been wrongfully detained, often due to racial profiling, and thousands of immigrants have gone missing following operations like Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago and Alligator Alcatraz in Miami. The public deserves transparency about what is happening in facilities funded by taxpayer dollars. I am also asking you to condemn ICE's cruel treatment of defenseless children and call for their release from abusive detention camps. The revival of family separation policies has affected hundreds of children, repeating the trauma we witnessed in previous years. No child should endure these conditions. Furthermore, I urge you to demand full investigations into ICE's use of violence, including deadly force. The agency operates with minimal accountability while employing privacy-violating surveillance tools including facial recognition spyware, phone hacking, social media monitoring, and license plate tracking through systems like Flock Safety to profile and track individuals. I am calling on you to refuse to pass any DHS appropriations bill that maintains funding for ICE until these abuses are addressed. Funding these operations without accountability makes Congress complicit in these violations. Finally, I urge you to call for the impeachment of Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security. The targeted raids in Democratic-led cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, and New Orleans, attacks on the Somali community in Minnesota, paused green cards and citizenship applications for people from 19 countries, and canceled citizenship ceremonies represent authoritarian overreach that violates our constitutional principles. These are not partisan issues but fundamental questions of human rights and American values.
