I am writing to express my profound outrage regarding the Department of Justice’s recent release of millions of pages from the Jeffrey Epstein investigative files. While the public has long called for transparency, the manner in which this data has been handled is a betrayal of both the rule of law and the victims of Epstein’s sex trafficking network.
Reports indicate that the DOJ has allowed the unredacted names and identifying information of thousands of victims to be released into the public domain—some of whom had never been publicly identified. This negligence re-traumatizes survivors and exposes them to further harassment. Simultaneously, there are alarming reports that the DOJ has failed to redact sexually explicit material, yet has aggressively applied redactions to protect high-profile individuals, most notably President Trump.
This discrepancy in the application of redactions suggests a politicized effort to shield the powerful from scrutiny while sacrificing the privacy and safety of those harmed.
As my representative, I demand that you exercise your oversight authority to hold the Department of Justice accountable for these failures. Specifically, I ask that you:
* Investigate the DOJ’s redaction protocols to determine why victim names were exposed while political figures were shielded.
* Demand a full accounting of why Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or explicit imagery was released or accessible in these files.
* Ensure that unredacted files are made available to Congress for proper oversight to ensure no information was suppressed to protect the current administration.
Transparency cannot come at the cost of victim safety or the integrity of our justice system. I look forward to hearing how you plan to address these serious allegations of misconduct.
