The rule of law and an independent judiciary are cornerstones of a functioning democracy. Attempts to intimidate judges or punish them for rulings the government disagrees with are highly concerning and undermine our democratic institutions. We cannot accept a reality where judges face impeachment or other repercussions simply for issuing decisions based on their interpretation of the law, rather than catering to the administration's desires. This would effectively turn the judicial branch into a rubber stamp for the executive, destroying its vital role as an independent check on government overreach. The American Bar Association is right to condemn such efforts and defend the rule of law. We must resist any actions that seek to erode the separation of powers or judicial independence. An impartial judiciary insulated from political pressure is essential to protect individual rights and uphold our nation's commitment to justice and liberty for all.
