SECDEF - you own this mess

To: Sen. Schmitt

From: A constituent in Plattsburg, MO

July 29

On 21, 27 and 30 April 2025, I wrote to you concerning the SECDEF release of classified information over a non-secure signal chat which included person who had no need to know. I stated he is a national security risk and I expected you to act. On 12 May 2025, you answered (in part), “Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding recent controversy around U.S. National Security Officials using Signal. Your input helps inform my decision-making and empowers me to better represent the state. Following reports of the incident, Senator Wicker, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services committee, called for further inquiry. The Pentagon's inquiry into the use of the Signal messaging app by senior officials began on April 3, 2025. This probe was initiated by Department of Defense Acting Inspector General Steven Stebbins and is ongoing.” This investigation now has reporting out that states the info came from an EMAIL with “Secret/NOFORN” on it. What do you plan to do ~ you voted for and supported this unskilled person. He is woefully underqualified and is a national security risk. Reports from the pentagon indicate it’s in disarray, senior staff and military are being fired, demoralized, or have quit and retired. His only military leadership experience is what I had in the Army and I know I would not be qualified to lead the pentagon. The difference is I’m smart enough to know this! I want an answer ~
