I am deeply alarmed by the confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services. His dangerous anti-vaccine advocacy has already led to the tragic deaths of children in Samoa. The risks his leadership brings are enormous.
Already, we see the consequences with outbreaks of tuberculosis in Kansas and measles among unvaccinated individuals in Texas.
With looming threats like bird flu, outbreaks of tuberculosis in Kansas and measles in Texas, and other future health crises, it's evident the federal government cannot be relied upon to protect public health under Kennedy's watch.
I urgently call on you to invest in a robust state-level public health infrastructure and take proactive measures to address health risks.
This issue is critical and demands immediate action to safeguard New Yorkers.
