Provisions for the DHS appropriations bill to rein in ICE
To: Sen. Johnson, Sen. Baldwin
From: A constituent in Madison, WI
February 6
As your constituent, I urge you to push for the following to be included in the long- term DHS appropriations bill to rein in ICE:
• No additional funding for ICE; they already have $75 billion for the next four years. They don’t need another $10 billion.
• An independent inspector inside every ICE detention center to ensure humane conditions and no abuse of detainees.
• A mandate that ICE agents obtain a judicial warrant, not an administrative one, to enter a home or arrest someone.
• A ban on ICE agents detaining and deporting children and minors.
• Robust protections against ICE, CPB or any other DHS police agency becoming involved in election administration.
• A ban on ICE agents wearing face masks to conceal their identity.
My fellow constituents and I will be paying close attention to what’s included in the DHS appropriations bill and how you vote.
