Defund ICE Following the federal funding deal passed in mid-November 2025, Congress now faces a January 30 deadline to pass the remaining appropriations bills to fully fund the government for fiscal year 2026, including the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill. This bill must be blocked. For years, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and its parent agency, Customs and Border Protection, have demonstrated a clear pattern of abuse of power. Since their creation in 2003, these agencies have terrorized immigrant communities, conducted unconstitutional border checkpoints, separated families, denied due process, and subjected detained individuals to physical, sexual, and psychological abuse. These actions harm not only immigrants, but the safety and integrity of our communities as a whole. The killing of Renée Good in Minnesota marked the ninth ICE shooting since September 2025, underscoring the real and deadly consequences of unchecked enforcement power. These are not isolated incidents. They reflect a systemic failure of accountability. Despite this record, ICE recently received billions of dollars in additional funding through the so-called “One Big Beautiful” bill, with no guardrails, conditions, or meaningful oversight. This effectively creates a multibillion-dollar slush fund that enables continued violence and abuse without consequence. I am calling on you to block any Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill or continuing resolution that includes funding for ICE. Congress must refuse to authorize or extend funding for an agency that has repeatedly demonstrated it cannot operate lawfully or humanely. Anything less is a choice to allow these abuses to continue
