Support Remembrance of Transgender Violence

To: Rep. Self, Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Wylie, TX

November 22

The resolution condemns the continuing violence endured by transgender individuals, recognizing the at least 38 transgender individuals who tragically lost their lives to violence in 2022. Transgender individuals encounter staggeringly high rates of violence and are seven times more likely to experience physical violence motivated by hate. This endemic violence demands action from Congress through this resolution to raise awareness, condemn these reprehensible acts of violence and discrimination, and honor the memory of those lost. Passing this resolution sends a powerful message affirming transgender individuals' inherent human dignity and worth, bolsters efforts to ensure their safety and wellbeing, and commits to building a society of inclusion, acceptance, and justice for the transgender community.
