Strong Opposition to H.R. 722 – A Direct Attack on Personal Freedom

To: Sen. Smith, Sen. Klobuchar, Rep. Stauber

From: A verified voter in Angora, MN

January 29, 2025

I am writing to strongly oppose H.R. 722, a bill that represents an extreme government overreach into personal medical decisions and a direct assault on reproductive rights. This legislation seeks to extend the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause to embryos and fetuses, effectively criminalizing abortion nationwide and imposing a one-size-fits-all mandate on deeply personal healthcare choices. H.R. 722 is a dangerous, unconstitutional attempt to strip away bodily autonomy from millions of Americans. It disregards the legal precedent set by Roe v. Wade and the subsequent recognition of reproductive rights as essential to individual liberty. This bill would not only eliminate access to abortion but could also have chilling effects on IVF, miscarriage care, and even birth control. This is not about protecting life—it is about control. It is about forcing the government into decisions that should remain between individuals and their doctors. It disregards medical expertise, ignores the complexities of pregnancy, and puts ideology over science and personal freedom. I demand that you oppose H.R. 722 in the strongest possible terms. I will be closely watching your stance on this issue, as will countless other constituents who refuse to allow extremist policies to dictate our futures. We deserve representatives who fight for our rights, not those who strip them away under the guise of “protection.” I urge you to reject this bill and stand firmly on the side of personal freedom and privacy.
