Vote No on HR28

To: Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray

From: A verified voter in Bellingham, WA

February 2, 2025

This harmful legislation seeks to unfairly discriminate against transgender athletes and deny them the opportunity to participate in sports teams that align with their gender identity. Study after study has shown that allowing trans women to compete in women's sports does not provide an inherent competitive advantage. Rather, this bill promotes transphobia and undermines principles of equality and inclusion that our nation should uphold. Banning trans women and girls from competing on women's teams is rooted in prejudice, not facts or scientific evidence. It would impose severe psychological harm on a vulnerable group that already faces high rates of discrimination and marginalization. Athletics should be an empowering space that brings people together, not one that legislates fear and exclusion. I urge you to reject this discriminatory proposal and instead champion policies that create a more just, equitable society for all people, regardless of gender identity. Every young person deserves the chance to pursue their athletic passions free from unfair barriers. Our diversity is a strength, not something to legislate against. Uphold Title IX's intent of prohibiting sex discrimination by voting no on this regressive bill.
