I am writing to express outrage at President Trump's recent statements calling Democratic lawmakers' actions "seditious behavior" to be "punishable by death," and to suggest they be hanged. Such comments are inappropriate and dangerous in our current political climate. This sort of rhetoric from a president has incited violence in the past, and undermines the safety of you and your colleagues. My wife and I urge you to publicly condemn the president's statements and take a firm stand against this kind of dangerous rhetoric. Our democracy depends on the ability of elected officials to carry out their duties without fear of violent retribution.
