Congress must immediately hold this administration accountable for unauthorized military actions that violate international law and the Constitution. The administration has conducted military operations without congressional approval, including bombing small boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific, blockading Cuba to create fuel and food shortages, and threatening to bomb desalinization plants and electricity production in Iran.
These actions violate the War Powers Resolution and represent an unconstitutional seizure of Congress's authority to declare war. The blockade of Cuba has caused humanitarian suffering among civilians who have no say in their government's policies. Threats against Iran's desalinization plants and power generation as part of an unauthorized war would constitute attacks on civilian infrastructure. Summary killings without judicial process violate both domestic and international law.
I expect you to demand full briefings on all military operations, hold public hearings on these violations, and use the power of the purse to defund unauthorized military actions. If the administration refuses to comply with the War Powers Resolution, Congress must pursue censure or other constitutional remedies.
Your silence makes you complicit. The Constitution gives Congress alone the power to declare war. Take action now to reassert that authority.
