I am writing to you as a constituent to express my firm opposition to any federal efforts to restrict access to FDA-approved abortion medications, such as mifepristone. I am concerned about proposals to restore in-person dispensing requirements or to utilize the Comstock Act to ban the mailing of these medications nationwide.
Public policy must be based on objective medical science and practical needs, not on personal dogma or religious interpretation. These medications have been studied for decades and are proven to be safe and effective. Restricting access to them does not enhance safety; it simply places unnecessary barriers between individuals and the healthcare they need, directly violating their bodily autonomy.
I urge you to represent the diverse views of your constituency by ensuring that medical decisions remain between a patient and their doctor, based on clinical data rather than ideological preferences.
