As a concerned citizen of Arkansas, I feel compelled to reach out to you once again regarding the imminent threat posed by former President Donald Trump. Recent comments by former Chief of Staff John Kelly, who has publicly stated that he sees fascist qualities in Trump and noted his admiration for Hitler's generals, have raised alarm bells that cannot be ignored.
It is clear that Trump should not be allowed to run for the presidency again. His actions and rhetoric threaten the democratic principles that our nation was founded upon. Unfortunately, Congress has failed to take the necessary steps to prevent him from running for office once more. The Supreme Court’s recent ruling has left the door open for a potential return to power, and it appears that the GOP lacks the courage to stand up to this threat.
It is disheartening that former members of Trump's cabinet have come forward to label him as dangerous, yet Congress remains largely silent. I urge you to reflect on your obligations as elected officials—especially considering your military backgrounds and the oaths you have taken to protect our Constitution.
I am asking you to:
1. Publicly denounce Donald Trump as a candidate for the presidency and assert that he poses a clear danger to our democracy.
2. Take decisive action to protect the integrity of our elections and our Constitution from those who would seek to undermine them.
3. Reaffirm your commitment to democratic values, ensuring that any attempts to shift towards authoritarianism are met with strong resistance.
We cannot allow fear of political repercussions to silence your duty to protect our nation. Your constituents expect you to lead with integrity and to uphold the principles of democracy.
Thank you for your service to our state and for considering this urgent matter. I look forward to your response.
