Vote NO on SB76!

To: Sen. Marshall, Sen. Moran

From: A constituent in Lawrence, KS

February 7

This proposed legislation aims to prohibit employees of schools and universities from using a student's preferred name and pronouns if they differ from their birth certificate. As an educational institution's role is to foster a supportive learning environment for all students, forcing staff to misgender transgender youth could promote stigma and marginalization. Research shows affirmation of one's gender identity is vital for the mental health and wellbeing of transgender individuals. Transgender students already face heightened risks of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation - policies invalidating their identities would only exacerbate these issues. I urge you to consider the severe potential consequences and vote no on SB76 to uphold the dignity of Kansas' transgender youth.
