Glenn Grothman has just introduced a bill to reopen Alcatraz. This is one of the dumber things he’s done. Alcatraz closed 62 years ago. It was a disgusting mess in the early 80s when I was there. It will cost millions and millions to make habitable. Does Glenn understand there’s no bridge and that workers, visitors and prisoners are transported by ferry/boat. There is a small helicopter pad. Regardless, the cost to transport workers would be ridiculous. Right now it’s a a bird sanctuary as well as a museum. It actually earns money and saves birds. Open it as a prison and it will be the proverbial money pit. Glenn wants to take away healthcare from over 10 million people and gut education services for kids because we “don’t have the money”. Yet he wants to cut taxes for the wealthy and reopen a 91 year old prison. I’m sure Trump would want to privatize it which means it will cost us even more. Glen get your priorities straight! How does this make any financial sense? The citizens of this country pay taxes so we have services, yet you want to take services away so that Donald Trump can put more money in his pocket. Absolutely unacceptable!
