I am deeply frustrated by the current administration’s spending priorities and the message they send about whose needs matter.
At a time when families are struggling with healthcare costs, housing, childcare, and economic uncertainty, we are seeing billions directed toward an incredibly expensive military conflict with Iran, taxpayer money being used for projects like the White House ballroom that was supposedly not going to cost the public anything, and now more than $13 million reportedly being spent to repair and repaint the reflecting pool in Washington — far above the original estimate.
Meanwhile, we are told there is not enough money for lifesaving federal research at the NIH, for Medicaid, or for the social programs that keep communities healthy and stable. These cuts are not just morally wrong — they are economically shortsighted. NIH-funded research drives medical breakthroughs, creates jobs, supports universities and hospitals, and strengthens American innovation and competitiveness. Medicaid helps children, older adults, disabled Americans, and working families access essential care.
I want my tax dollars invested in programs that improve and save lives, strengthen our economy, and support everyday Americans — not vanity projects and unchecked military spending.
I urge you to oppose cuts to NIH funding, Medicaid, and other essential social services, and to demand greater accountability and transparency for wasteful federal spending.
