Demand for Justice for Victims + Accountability in the DOJ Epstein File Release

To: Sen. Moreno, Rep. Beatty, Sen. Husted

From: A verified voter in Columbus, OH

February 16

I am writing to you today not just as a constituent, but as an American who is disgusted by the Department of Justice’s ongoing failure to prioritize the victims of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking ring. The recent release of "redacted" files is a travesty that proves the DOJ is more interested in managing political fallout than in delivering long-overdue justice. The Department’s handling of these records is a direct insult to the survivors. While the DOJ has spent months meticulously debating which "politically exposed persons" to protect or release, they have simultaneously: -- Endangered Survivors: Reports indicate that while high-profile names were being curated, the actual identities and sensitive personal information of victims were left unredacted in public filings. This is a gross violation of victim privacy and a failure of the DOJ’s basic duty of care. -- Obfuscated Evidence: By releasing a disorganized list that conflates irrelevant historical figures with known predators, the DOJ is "muddying the waters." This lack of context makes it harder for the public and the courts to identify the true enablers who have yet to face a jury. -- Stalled Accountability: We are a nation of laws, yet it appears the DOJ is using "deliberative process" privileges to sit on evidence that could lead to further prosecutions. Justice for these victims has been delayed for decades; it must not be denied by bureaucratic shielding. I am demanding that you use your oversight authority to: 1.. Prioritize Victim Protection: Demand an immediate audit of how survivor identities were exposed and ensure those responsible within the DOJ are held accountable for this secondary victimization. 2.. Ensure Full, Proper Disclosure: Require the DOJ to release the files in a manner that clearly distinguishes between investigative targets and tangential names, so the focus remains on the criminal enterprise. 3.. Mandate New Investigations: Ensure that no person, regardless of their status or office, is being shielded from criminal investigation. If the files contain evidence of a crime, the DOJ must be compelled to act, not just redact. The victims have waited long enough. They deserve the truth, they deserve their privacy, and they deserve to see every person involved in this network held responsible. I expect you to stand on the side of the survivors, not the institutions that failed them.
