Kristi Noem's tenure as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security has been a disastrous failure that undermines the safety and rights of the American people. Her lack of experience in national security is glaringly evident, exemplified by her fundamental misunderstanding of basic legal concepts like habeas corpus. Under her leadership, DHS has unlawfully detained and deported verified US citizens, violating their constitutional rights. Most recently, Noem's security forces assaulted a sitting US Senator, forcibly removing and arresting Alex Padilla at a press conference. She has vowed to use similar excessive force against protestors exercising their First Amendment rights. Noem's request to deploy military forces against civilians is an outrageous escalation that oversteps the bounds of government authority and threatens to incite violence. Noem has proven herself unserious, incompetent, extrajudicial, self-serving, and cruel in her approach to immigration enforcement. Her continued presence as DHS Secretary enables the trampling of civil liberties and jeopardizes public safety. I urge you to publicly denounce her leadership and call for her immediate resignation to protect the rights and wellbeing of all Americans.
