The Federal Salary Council has shown that federal civilian employee pay is 24.72% behind pay for comparable jobs in the private sector. Inflation is running about 3.4%. Yet Trump says federal civilian employees can expect no cost-of-living pay raise for 2027.
We federal civilian employees have lost our collective bargaining rights to unlawful executive orders as federal court cases against those orders play out. We’ve lost most telework rights and our alternative work schedules. Collective bargaining, AWS and telework are all protected by statutes passed in 1978, 1982 and 2010, respectively, yet here we are, at least until courts and arbitrators have had their say and enforced their rulings, hopefully in our favor.
Approximately 300,000 federal civilian employees have lost their jobs since January 2025, most via deferred resignations or early retirements they were coerced and intimidated into taking by the data mining anti-government scam DOGE.
We’ve been through hell and have had enough. It’s time for you to stand up to this regime and pass legislation that gives us a pay raise at or exceeding the inflation rate for 2027, which will also be a start to closing that 24.72% gap with the private sector for comparable work.
If for no other reason than your own or your party’s election prospects in November, do the right thing.
