To the Democratic National Committee and Democratic Members of the U.S. Senate:
We urge you to transition to new Senate leadership for the upcoming session. Senator Chuck Schumer no longer possesses the constituent support or the strategic approach necessary to lead our caucus forward.
Our concerns center on three critical issues:
• Historic Loss of Base Support: A leader cannot guide a national party without the confidence of their own constituents. Non-partisan polling shows Senator Schumer’s favorability in New York has cratered to a historic 33%, with a 52% disapproval rating. Crucially, his support among New York Democrats has plummeted from 75% to just 49%, and he is now underwater in New York City (45% unfavorable to 37% favorable). • Legislative Capitulation: This collapse in support stems from repeated strategic surrenders. From the March 2025 Continuing Resolution to the late 2025 government shutdown, Senate leadership consistently conceded vital political leverage, demoralizing the grassroots base.
• Outdated Strategy: While Democratic governors and local leaders aggressively fight executive overreach, Senate leadership remains wedded to an outdated era of procedural incrementalism. We need a leader who utilizes modern rapid-response media to control the narrative and inspire voters.
For the future of the Democratic coalition and the strength of the Senate caucus, it is time for fresh, forward-looking leadership.
