Vote no on appropriations bill as written, speak out against Pretti murder
To: Sen. Cornyn
From: A constituent in Austin, TX
January 26
You claim to support the second amendment, yet I have heard nothing from you regarding the murder of Alex Pretti, who was licensed to carry and NOT brandishing his weapon at law enforcement as visible from every angle of multiple videos, when he was murdered by ICE yesterday.
This man, who worked for the VA, was denied his basic first and second amendment rights and brutally murdered by the government. I know you have seen the videos and know what actually happened. What are you going to do about it? History is watching this moment.
I ask that you speak out publicly against what we can all see with our own eyes, and that you vote no on the appropriations bill that will continue to fund ICE at current levels. I am all for deporting actual violent criminals. Edit the bill to put guardrails on ICE and return them to that previously stated mission in order to receive funding. You have the power to do this. I can’t believe I have seen another state-sanctioned murder in the SAME month as the last one. This is not policing or enforcing immigration laws. It is abuse and murder. Fight to stop it.
