I am writing to you today as your constituent from Escondido CA to express my profound alarm, outrage, and deep concern following President Donald Trump’s recent comments at a campaign rally in Nebraska, where he suggested that an attack or the destruction of San Diego and Los Angeles would be "a very small price to pay".
To hear a sitting President of the United States casually designate major American cities and millions of American lives as expendable collateral damage in geopolitical rhetoric is completely unacceptable and terrifying for local residents. San Diego is home to critical national security infrastructure, military families, hardworking citizens, and thriving communities—not a disposable target.
While local and federal security leaders have noted no immediate, elevated physical threats to our region, the psychological and emotional toll on our community caused by these reckless statements is severe.
Our state leaders must stand firm against any normalization of threats directed at California communities. Thank you for your immediate attention to this critical matter and for standing up for the safety and dignity of San Diegans.
