congress I am writing to ask that you stand up for your Constitutional duty to apportion funds for US Government expenditure and to see that these funds are used as appropriated. Right now, funds that Congress appropriated for a variety of services and activities are being illegally impounded by the executive branch. These funds include funds that provide life-saving food to starving children — food packets that are manufactured by American companies using food grown on American farms. They also include services all Americans depend on, such as the National Weather Service. And they include services like help for elderly people who are signing up for Social Security and Medicare. The thoughtless rampage of Elon Musk through the federal government is taking away things that American taxpayers support, want, and need, such as safe air travel, and for which Congress has appropriated money after considering what citizens need and want. Where is this money going? Apparently, some of it is going into Elon Musk’s pocket as he leverages his position as President to enrich himself through things like the shenanigans at the Federal Aviation Administration. I didn’t vote for Elon Musk. He wasn’t on the ballot. I want my duly elected representatives in Washington to stand up for the Constitution and to restore our government to regular functioning, where things are predictable and where we can live our lives without having to wonder if we will be able to retire, or if we will be killed in an airplane crash, or if we will die of bird flu because someone did an oopsie when cutting government programs. There are reasonable ways to ask questions about whether a particular government service is needed or is working as well as it should. What’s going on right now is not it, and Congress laying down like a doormat in abdication of your oath to the Constitution is a big part of the problem
