Speak Up Against Anti-Trans Legislation

To: Sen. Nesbitt, Gov. Whitmer, Rep. Andrews

From: A verified voter in Stevensville, MI

April 24

I'm calling on you to publicly oppose the wave of anti-trans bills moving through state legislatures nationwide and to work to block any similar legislation in our state. These bills represent targeted discrimination that will harm real people in our communities. Across the country, legislators are cutting off transition medicine coverage for people on Medicaid, even though regret rates for this care are just 1-2%, lower than cardiac or knee surgery. They're declaring that rejecting a trans child's identity, including denying them healthcare, can never be considered abuse. They're creating public databases of people receiving transition care, destroying medical privacy. They're mandating segregation across all public and private spaces based on genitalia at birth. Together, these bills make it impossible for trans people to access healthcare, receive protection from abuse, maintain privacy, or exist in public spaces. This isn't about protecting anyone. It's about erasing an entire group of people from civic life. Stand against this targeted hate. Trans people are your constituents too, and they deserve the same dignity, safety, and access to healthcare as everyone else.
