Restoring Fiscal Sanity and Oversight to Federal Law Enforcement

I am writing to express my deep frustration with the misallocation of taxpayer resources and the current state of federal law enforcement oversight. I understand the importance of border security, but our current immigration enforcement policies are a fiscal and humanitarian failure. I find it indefensible to focus on state-level day care fraud while ignoring the $170 billion being spent on a "Deportation-Industrial Complex" that is demonstrably failing to target dangerous criminals. According to recent 2026 data: -- The "Violent Crime" Myth: Despite claims of prioritizing "the worst of the worst," only 5% of ICE detainees have convictions for violent crimes. Meanwhile, 73.6% of those detained have no criminal record whatsoever. -- Fiscal Waste: We are spending $115 million per day to hunt down and detain people who are often in the middle of legal processes or have lived in our communities for decades without incident. -- Targeting Legal Residents: Arrests of people with no criminal record have surged by 2,450%, often occurring when people show up for their legal court dates or mandatory check-ins. We are effectively punishing those who "follow the rules." -- Humanitarian Violations: To meet arbitrary 3,000/day arrest quotas, we are cramming people into facilities with conditions ruled likely unconstitutional. Spending $152 per day to cage non-violent people in squalor is a perversion of "government efficiency." Furthermore, I am alarmed by the "weaponization" of these resources. When the FBI is pulled from fentanyl and human trafficking cases to conduct unnecessary domestic "surge" operations in our cities, we are less safe. As my representative, I am asking you to: 1.. Shift Oversight to Federal Spending: Investigate the massive waste in no-bid detention contracts rather than focusing on state-level distractions that are already being investigated at the state level. 2.. Eliminate Quotas: End the 3,000-per-day arrest mandate that incentivizes both inhumane detention conditions and overly aggressive tactics that bypass due process and violate the Fourth Amendment. 3.. Restore Accountability: Support the "Humanitarian Standards for Individuals in ICE and CBP Custody Act" to ensure our government stops violating the constitutional rights of those in its care. 4.. Refocus Immigration Enforcement: Demand that ICE/BCP operations refocus on the actual borders and on people who have committed violent crimes, rather than creating chaos in interior cities for political theater. 5.. Protect Legal Pathways: Ensure that those following the rules and attending check-ins are not subjected to predatory "at-large" arrests. The American people deserve a government that is both effective and fiscally responsible. Right now, our current trajectory is neither. I look forward to hearing how you plan to bring accountability to these ballooning federal expenditures and unconstitutional detainments.
