I am writing to demand that you use every legislative and oversight tool available to prevent further U.S. military escalation in the Middle East.
President Trump has repeatedly portrayed himself as a “peaceful” president who would avoid foreign entanglements. Yet his administration has already authorized military strikes across multiple countries. This disconnect between words and actions heightens the risk of miscalculation, civilian harm, and another indefinite conflict—without a clearly articulated strategy or congressional approval.
Congress has both the authority and the obligation to act. At a minimum, I expect you to:
-Support binding measures that prohibit further use of force without a specific authorization,
-Require full transparency on the scope, legal basis, and objectives of current operations, and
-Hold public hearings to assess risks to regional stability and U.S. security.
Failure to respond decisively signals that Congress is willing to abdicate its constitutional role. I am asking you to choose accountability over acquiescence.
