I am writing as a concerned constituent to urge you to oppose any legislation that would implement or expand school voucher programs in Texas.
School vouchers divert critical funding away from our already under-resourced public schools and redirect it to private institutions that are not held to the same standards of accountability, accessibility, or transparency. This not only undermines public education, but also disproportionately harms rural communities and students with the greatest needs—those who rely most on a strong public school system.
Public schools are the backbone of our communities. Rather than weakening them through voucher schemes, we should be investing in programs that support teachers, reduce class sizes, expand access to mental health resources, and ensure every child—regardless of their ZIP code—has the opportunity to receive a high-quality education.
As your constituent, I ask you to stand with Texas families, educators, and students by rejecting school voucher proposals and instead prioritizing strong, equitable public education for all.
Thank you for your time and for your service to our community.
