Reject harmful online censorship, protect civil liberties and access

To: Rep. Gutierrez, Sen. Sundareshan, Rep. Mathis

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

July 5

HB2586 would impose harmful restrictions on online speech and access to information. Age verification requirements for websites could severely limit access to important educational resources and community spaces, particularly for LGBTQ+ individuals. Such measures enable digital censorship and violate principles of free expression. Rather than protecting minors, this legislation risks cutting off vital support networks and curtailing civil liberties. I urge you to reject HB2586 and proposals that undermine online freedoms and disproportionately impact marginalized groups. We must preserve open internet access while addressing concerns through less restrictive means that uphold Constitutional rights.
