I am deeply concerned about the multiple risks from AI.
The leaders of AI companies and top experts have warned about superintelligent AI systems vastly more capable than any person, company, or nation. I urge you to support legislation that prohibits the development of superintelligence and places strict limits on precursor technologies.
Superintelligent AI is a technology that, if developed anywhere, including here in the United States, threatens our domestic security. It should be treated like any other major security threat.
I ask that you meet with ControlAI’s US director Connor Leahy. He cofounded EleutherAI, the group behind some of the first open-source large language models, and went on to found and serve as CEO of the AI safety research company Conjecture. Connor and his team have briefed numerous members of Congress on this issue, and I believe they can help you and your office grasp what is at stake.
